Statistically, at age 30 you will have a 30% chance of going bald. This increases by 10% every 10 years. So someone 50 years of age will have a 50% chance of being bald. Millions of people around the globe experience hair loss which is simply termed as alopecia. This refers to any type of hair loss no matter the cause. There are numerous things that can cause hair loss, from medical treatments like chemotherapy, to scalp infections and stress to genetics. Hair loss may also be a result from countless other disease processes.

The type we think of as male/female pattern balding is known as androgenetic alopecia (AGA). This is by far the most common type of balding and accounts for approximately 90% of all male cases.  It’s also the leading cause of female balding.
